Two world's first 7,500 cubic meters liquid carbon dioxide carriers were laid on the same day
The world's first 7,500 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide carrier. On April 13, Ship No. 1 and Ship No. 2 completed the bottom laying node on the same day at Dalian Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
The ship type of this project is independently designed by Dalian Shipbuilding and built for Northern Light Company of Norway, with completely independent intellectual property rights. This type of ship has a total length of about 130 meters, a molded width of 21.2 meters, and a structural draft of 8 meters. It is the world's first liquid carbon dioxide carrier specialized in marine carbon transportation and storage, and is classified by DNV classification society.
After construction and delivery, the ship will be used in the European carbon dioxide capture and storage plan to collect carbon dioxide produced by European industries, transport it to the carbon dioxide receiving terminal on the west coast of Norway for treatment, and then inject it into the seabed 2,600 meters underground for permanent storage, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions in Europe In order to promote the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality in Europe as a whole.

During the ship type research and development process, Dalian Shipbuilding always adhered to the design concept of green, environmental protection, safety, efficiency, and comfort, and adopted a variety of innovative technical means to overcome ship type optimization. (including overall performance, rapidity, maneuverability, etc.), liquid cargo tank material CTOD test, liquid cargo tank and saddle reinforcement scheme, liquid cargo system design scheme, new energy-saving devices (including energy-saving sails, bubble drag reduction, shaft power generation machine), large general section hoisting, vibration and noise and a series of technical problems.
Dalian Shipbuilding will give full play to its rich experience in special ship project management, safety, health and environmental protection management, and special ship construction procedures to promote the smooth realization of subsequent production nodes.
